… ExpandĪlan Wake itself is an amazing experience. If you have never played it and wanna choose between this version or original, 100% pick remastered. Anyone complaining about performance - i'm sure they will update it along the way, but overall this game doesn't really need more than 60fps. graphically it can almost compete with some modern games. Looks good, not perfect, but still best version of this game as of right now. I have played this game over 30 times and i always got lost somewhere in the woods, because it was so difficult to even understand where you are. It simply looks way cleaner and better and don't get me wrong, fog is still there, difference is that you can actually now see where you are going. Maxed out, this is now best version of this game and nobody can argue that. So yeah main improvement is cutscenes, but also everything else, like grass, ground textures, textures in general, lighting. For 2010/2012, this game looks phenomenally good. I just find it weird when people play it and act like cutscenes aren't top tier, like people don't understand that this is updated 2010/2012 video game. To be honest i never really cared for the cutscenes in this game, i have played it since 2012 and i always skipped cutscenes after 1st time i played it. All cutscenes look way better than original ones, still not amazing, but way better. To be honest i never Not perfect, yet okay remaster. The game’s cutscenes, quirky cast of characters, and the majestic Pacific Northwest vistas have been enhanced for an experience that delivers as much on its visual impact as its unnerving atmosphere. The tense, episodic story is packed with unexpected twists, heart-stopping cliff hangers, and intense bursts of combat where it takes more than bullets to banish the darkness. Alan Wake Remastered offers the complete experience, with the main game and its two story expansions - The Signal and The Writer - in stunning new 4K visuals. His nightmarish journey to find answers to the mind-bending mystery he faces will lead him into the terrifying depths of the night. Remedy says it wanted to give the announcement to one of its most passionate communities to thank the fans for their decade of support-a classy move.Īlan Wake Remastered hasn't been dated yet, but you won't have to wait long. Remedy announced the remaster in an open letter from Sam Lake on The Sudden Stop (opens in new tab), a community site that's been around since 2012. Sometimes you just need the game to tell you that it's OK to make a sandwich or save the section for tomorrow. It enhances the Twin Peaks, Twilight Zone vibes, but I also appreciated the affect this has on the pace, and the way it offers you breaks from the intense horror. The episodic structure-it's a complete package, but still broken up into discrete 'episodes'-was also extremely welcome. And I came out the other end realising that the stressful fights and the constant need to find a working light did wonders to put me in Wake's sweaty shoes. Wake's a thoroughly unlikeable protagonist, and the combat twist where enemies are only vulnerable when you shine your torch at them-when you aren't desperately looking for more batteries-wears thin, but the journey is riveting regardless.
